Check out the interview!
Q: Who are your influences? When you were coming up which artists did you listen to?
A: Life & the ones who were successful at living it before me. The Malcom X's the MLK's the Tupac's those who turned nothing into something. I came up listening to Biggie, Pac, Scarface, Kanye, DMX, Nirvana, Green Day I listened to alot but only the one's that made quality music...
Q: If you could compare yourself to an even more established artist than yourself, who would that be and why? Who is your hip hop hero?
A: Not tryna sound cocky but I can't compare myself with any other artist.. I'm 1 of 1, I'm like nobody & there's definitely nobody like me. & I don't have a hip hop hero, my only hero is GOD...
Q: What do you think your listeners will get out of your music?
A: Reality...I feel like my music is a reflection of my life & I believe that my trials & tribulations, my highs & lows, my good & my bads are no different than the majority of my listeners. So listening to me will be like holding a mirror up to yaself. Plus my shit is BANGIN!!
Q: What were you thinking about when your single was developed?
A: First, I thought the actual beat was bananas! I just rode to the beat by itself for a couple days & I wanted my flow to reflect how the track made me feel & that was partying...
Q: What made you want to get into the business?
A: I felt my music was good enough to compete with what's out there now & not only that, my music just needs to be heard. Its too good not to be...
Q: What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in life?
A: Learning how to deal with being patient...
Q: What is the most difficult thing you have endured in the music industry?
A: *The same difficulties I endured in life & that's patience. I mean you wouldn't believe how hard it is just to get people to listen to ya music *, not to buy, not to do any favors but just listen...
Q: How did the come up with and what is the significance of your name?
A: Well my name derives from the word "Gist" & just to sum that up it means "the main or essential part of matter". I took the "G' & the "I" off & replace it with J-Y. The J is just for pronunciation & the "Y" represents
why I feel like my music is the "Gist" of everyday life...And with that
being said you have JYST...
Q: What do you hope to do with your music?
A: To share it with as many people as possible & be provided the platform to do so. Of course I want financial gain from it but I really have a passion for making music & if fame & fortune didn't come with it, I'd
still be doing it...
Q: How do you plan to help change the world with your music?
A: To be honest with you, I don't know yet. I do know that I'm not afraid to be myself & with that being said, I'm not afraid to express myself by touching different topics & exploring different genre's of music. Right now I'm focused on making good consistent music to change the game. I'll worry about changing the world later...
Q: What is your 'vision' for your single? What message are you trying to send?
A: With this particular single my vision is just having a good time...
Q: How would you describe your “roots” (where you came from) and where do you intend to go?
A: To make it short& sweet, I came from the bottom and I'm on my way to the top!
Q: Do you feel you are working toward, on the brink of, or have attained your break?
A: Right now I'm 2 for 3..My team & I are working on attaining it as we speak. It won't be long tho...
Q: Are there any questions you were expecting that I didn't ask and you would like to answer?
A: Hell yea! You ain't asked me the name of my album or anything about my site! Lol but the title of my album is called "Let Me In" & my site is www.itsjyst.com Your readers can go there & find out more info on me &
download or listen to my album...
